• Freeport is the island's capital city and the second largest city in the islands. Featuring terrific duty-free shopping and many attractions, the 10-acre International Bazaar is divided into sections that represent the different parts of the world and showcase varying shops and restaurants. Port Lucaya Marketplace and Marina is another well-known shopping area, featuring six acres of duty-free shopping.
• Try the horse-back riding in the waves, swimming with bottlenose dolphins, exploring the caves and beaches of Lucayan National Park or enjoying a night out at any of the casinos in Freeport.
• With the town all a-glitter, the Dec. 26th Boxing Day Junkanoo is a spectacular street parade of Caribbean music, dance and costume in honor of the old English tradition of 'boxing up' and giving gifts to the less fortunate. The parade takes place along West Sunrise Hwy from 5 p.m. to midnight.
• Then for New Year's, there is the Port Lucaya's New Year's Eve Celebration, with nonstop dancing and revelry. The party starts at 8 p.m. and ends with a fantastic fireworks display at Count Basie Square, Port Lucaya Marketplace.
