Many people fly to Denver International Airport to go skiing in the Rockies, but may never actually see The City of Denver. I just returned this week from a trip out there and was amazed at what a dynamic, bustling place Denver is. Denver has many sites to visit, sporting events, a performing Arts Center, hundreds of great restaurants and many historical buildings and homes that one can tour.
My tip is that if you want to visit The Denver Art Museum, it is closed on Mondays, which I found out when I went there.
My second tip is that a reservation needs to be made on-line if you want to visit the United States Mint and they actually take your printed reservation sheet from you for admission. This mint makes coins and one-dollar bills and is worth the visit. Security is very high and you are not allowed to carry a purse, have a camera, or a cell phone.
My third tip is that the downtown area of the 16th Street pedestrian mall is clean and safe to walk around, even at night.
Enjoy a stay in Denver in the fall, the weather is warm and dry and the mountains are always visible right in the heart of the city.

Wyndham Vacation OwnershipDenver is a great location to visit. Plus, there are other amazing areas right outside of Denver to venture out & explore. Within Denver, the Denver Zoo is a definite stop to include on your itinerary. You can check out everything from giraffes to hippos to lions. It's a fun, educational adventure right in the city. Not far outside of Denver is another must-see: Red Rocks. If you can catch a concert there, it's even better. But even if it's to stop in, take in the scenery & hike around, Red Rocks is well-worth it. There's even a little western-themed town right before you get to Red Rocks that has a couple casual spots to stop for a bite to eat. About an hour from Denver is another fun spot, Black Hawk - there are casinos that give off the ambiance of a mining town - it's really festive & fun! There are table games and slots to keep you busy.

Wyndham RewardsRemember any kid-friendly attractions like zoos and museums will likely have field trips from the local schools from 9am to 1pm on weekdays. You may want to plan around those times.
Everyone knows that the skiing here is great, but remember that the mountains also offer a rich mining history too. Take time to check out a ghost town or tour a mine.
In the summertime, locals have a favorite tradition called Film On The Rocks. One night a week throughout the summer (June-August), people gather at Red Rocks Amphitheater for food and drinks, live music and at sundown, a favorite movie (chosen earlier in the year by locals) is shown on the big screen. It's an inexpensive (just $10.50/person!), fun, and really laid-back way to experience Colorado culture.

Wyndham Worldwide CorporateIf you have a time for a day-trip visit make sure and visit Rocky Mountain National Park. Drive on the Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous highway in the world. You will see breathtaking scenery the entire drive. All kind of activities for the entire family.

Wyndham Worldwide CorporateI have family in Colorado and have visited every winter since I was born. Denver and the surrounding areas just remind me of the Holiday Season. Skip the hype of the big resorts and expensive lift tickets and instead head out snow shoeing... go ice skating... or even snowmobiling! There are so many ways to enjoy the snow (other than skiing)!

Wyndham Vacation OwnershipKnown for the spectacular weather in the summer months and the World Class snow sports during the Winter, Denver, Co. is a great city to visit during the Holiday Season. A multitude of Holiday attractions from the tree lighting on the 16th street mall, the annual City of Golden, Christmas parade, to the shopping at Boulder's Pearl Street Mall, provide for a great visit to the Gateway to the Rockies. If shopping is not on the agenda, how about visiting Vail, Colorado for Downhill skiing, the Town of Grand Lake, known as the Snowmobile Capital of World or a quick visit to the Coors factory for a tour. These and many other options make Denver the place to visit for the upcoming Holiday Season.

Wyndham Vacation OwnershipTake a couple strokes off your golf game by playing a couple rounds in the high altitude. You just might get that 300 yard drive you are looking for. Plus you won't find much better views then what you will find on the courses in the area.
