Travel Tips for
San Antonio

I didn't go there during the holidays but I did go for the summer. It's really humid there in the summer. While I was there, I went to the River Walk which is so cool to go too because you can jump in the boat and float through town and look at all the restaurants and shops that it has to offer. It has a tour guide on the boat and they tell you about the history of the River Walk. Surrounding the River Walk is a 2-story mall that has glass windows so whether you are shopping or just walking around, you can see outside which is a wonderful site to see. If you are a history person or just want to go and say you been there, the Alamo is a place you can walk around in and read about. Next time I visit San Antonio, I want to spend more time walking around and enjoying the history that it has to offer.

My piece of travel advice to San Antonio, TX is to visit River Walk and the Alamo. At River Walk, there are tons of shops for those who are looking for unique finds. Dining at River Walk is to die for with a killer view. When visiting the Alamo, don't forget to take pictures with the police with cowboy hats.

For a real taste of Texas, head out to Gruene (a part of New Braunfels). Grab a bite of chicken fried steak or some Texas Polish Wedding Sausage at the historic Gristmill, then catch a Texas artist like Robert Earl Keen, Reckless Kelly, or Wade Bowen at Gruene Hall, the oldest continually operating dance hall in the state. After the show, finish your night the way a real Texan would, by sipping a Shiner Bock as you make your way down the Guadalupe river in an innertube. There's a good chance whoever you just spent the last few hours dancing to will float right on by.

I have been to San Antonio. My sister lives there and I took my best friend who grew up in Corpus Christi and Houston with me so I learned a lot about the area. I discovered Taco Cabana which has awesome Mexican food for a really good price. I went in the spring and the River walk was absolutely beautiful that time of year. I had my sister as a tour guide and we had a blast the whole time. I have a habit of researching what is going on before I travel there so I went to http://www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com before I headed out. They had a lot of great links and restaurant menus as well as all the happenings going on the week I was there. We didn't do any of activities like the cruise or the cavern tours, but we had fun with all the shopping and people watching. We ate at Pat O' Brien's. I had been to the original in New Orleans some years before and I had to find out if the one in San Antonio was just as good. The Hurricane was just as good and the food was amazing! I can't wait to go back next spring for my honeymoon
