Add it to the List

So, here is the latest. My DH was just diagnosed with Celiac Disease - an intolerance to wheat, rye and barley. We (I say "we" because being the super-fab wife that I am, this is a lifestyle change for both of us... sigh) started our "gluten free" diet last night after meeting with both his Dr. and nutritionist to find out what the scoop actually is about this whole thing.

Of course, as soon as that blood work came back and before even meeting with the nutritionist, my sweetie immediately looked up gluten-free beers online because he certainly cannot go without that! Food is one thing but BEER?! Sheesh .... Men!

My Psudo-Spring

By the time that Super Bowl rolls around (Go Giants!) each year, I'm at that point where I am sick of my winter clothes (I am in the Northeast, remember), have had it with the chapped lips and dry skin and simply can't take yet another blustery day. Luckily, this is also the time of year that my man and I head down to Florida to visit my in-laws, who are happily spending their days playing golf, leisurely reading books out on the back porch and enjoying walks at sunset while wearing their spring gear.

I was so ready for our trip! Flying was fine. I brought our car-seat with us and by pulling the straps out all the way, was able to sling it over my one shoulder like a cool kid carries a backpack. Since I flew down with the babe by myself, ease was important. At the gate I checked both the seat and stroller since out flight was full (you DO know that you can always ask for a seat for your littlest passenger, right? If the plane is not packed, those under two can have a seat for free, as long as you've got the car-seat for them to sit in - and it hooks in just like in a car, just forward facing). Since we had our own seat, I didn't have to worry about the rental car offering me a seat that I was unfamiliar with. We all know how long it takes to first put your new car-seat in the car properly. I've spent less time blowing out my curly hair - and trust me, that's no quick task! By having ours from home, it was secured in minutes and we were on our way.

Welcome Summer!

It's official! The summer season has begun - and that means longer days, lightning bugs, cute sun-dresses, and for many of you, "summer hours". Good stuff all around!

As you read this, I will be enjoying my jump-start of the season, on a long weekend in the mountains with my family. I can't wait for days filled with canoeing on the lake, campfire s'mores at night and lots and lots of uninterrupted play time with the babe.

Now is the time to start planning your lazy summer days; whether you are a stay-at-home Mom or a working gal, you've got adventures to plan and memories to create. I do too, and I can't wait to get started!

Field Trip to Martha Stewart

Oh boy - last week's post makes me laugh. I did have the phone conversation but my girlfriend had to duck out early because HER little ones needed some mommy time. LOL! At least this time, it wasn't me. I also had the wine but sans bath and had a nice dinner with my husband that I actually made although I can't remember what we talked about because like always, I'm ready to fall asleep during dinner. So, although not exactly what I had planned, in my world, I still did okay overall.

Yesterday I went with my boss into the city to meet with (drum roll please) Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia! Uh... yeah! Martha Stewart! Pinch me, please!

Favorite Products

I'm a total product addict. I love pretty, colorful "things" that I just MUST HAVE when I see them. However, there are a few items that I am truly loyal to and always recommend, especially for those on the go - whether you are on the go for a day at the park, a weekend and the beach, or for a week-long trip, these are the kinds of products that make your life a little bit easier.

The Stress of Being a Woman

tub-toys.jpg

The little one is sick again (sob!) and the dog goes in for surgery tomorrow so I've been on that line between wanting to flip out because I am so extremely overwhelmed and just wanting to curl up in a ball and cry because I'm so stressed.

I have been sitting in my office, busy with work, and I heard a woman in another office talking to her friend about how she is so stressed out that she has been snapping at her two year old and how that's just not fair to him. It seems to me that as women, we really never get the time that we need to regroup, rejuvenate and just relax with our families. We always have more to do, things to worry obsessively about and lists a mile long.

Travel with the Grandparents

I've been slack on this blog, sorry. It's been a crazy fall/early winter due to my little one and his catching every virus imaginable. Talk about insane. Of course, when it rains, it pours and now our girl, MacKenzie (adorable, feisty, black lab) has to have her CCL in her knee repaired next week. Yeah. 14 weeks of rehab after that. For our DOG. It's bound to be a super next four months.

So, that trip that I was talking about in my last entry - although we've gotta put it off until after the holidays, it's now a must. Or really, I could lose it!
