By the time that Super Bowl rolls around (Go Giants!) each year, I'm at that point where I am sick of my winter clothes (I am in the Northeast, remember), have had it with the chapped lips and dry skin and simply can't take yet another blustery day. Luckily, this is also the time of year that my man and I head down to Florida to visit my in-laws, who are happily spending their days playing golf, leisurely reading books out on the back porch and enjoying walks at sunset while wearing their spring gear.
I was so ready for our trip! Flying was fine. I brought our car-seat with us and by pulling the straps out all the way, was able to sling it over my one shoulder like a cool kid carries a backpack. Since I flew down with the babe by myself, ease was important. At the gate I checked both the seat and stroller since out flight was full (you DO know that you can always ask for a seat for your littlest passenger, right? If the plane is not packed, those under two can have a seat for free, as long as you've got the car-seat for them to sit in - and it hooks in just like in a car, just forward facing). Since we had our own seat, I didn't have to worry about the rental car offering me a seat that I was unfamiliar with. We all know how long it takes to first put your new car-seat in the car properly. I've spent less time blowing out my curly hair - and trust me, that's no quick task! By having ours from home, it was secured in minutes and we were on our way.
This year, we decided to first stop over in Orlando, the home of Wyndham Vacation Ownership, so that I could get a better understanding of timeshare and would be able to visit a property. OH MY GOD. Seriously. We stayed at Bonnet Creek Resort which is right inside the Disney gates and is this spectacular property offering these huge suites with one to four bedrooms. Each unit has a living and dining room, a full kitchen and a bathroom that hosts a beautiful Jacuzzi tub. My son, our little fish, loved that tub - and the numerous pools on the property too. I was too busy working to indulge but my hubby and the guppy lived it up down at the pool.
We stayed in a one-bedroom but I did tour the "Presidential Unit" and it was enough to make me drool. Rich textiles, marble countertops, supple leather, dark wood and bigger than my last condo. Amazing.
Since the dear husband has celiac, it was really helpful to have the kitchen so that we didn't have to worry about finding places to eat that offer gluten-free products. With the baby, I always love having a fridge and the extra space.
Then, it was on to Vero Beach for the weekend. That was low key and deliciously warm - the hubby and I even got in some alone time out at the pool while the babe slept. Yum.
I got my spring weather fix, learned more about the timeshare products and the industry and even got to spend quality time with family.
Can't beat mixing work with pleasure. It's a win-win for everyone and now I return to the office recharged and ready to go. I just wish I was returning with a tan too!
