A lost day for me is a day when I don't get to spend a decent amount of time with the baby, a day when my husband is traveling for work and things seem overwhelming at home or a day that I'm just a crab for no reason and don't get to appreciate the fabulous people and things that I have in my life. (I particularly hate that last one.)

Wyndham Worldwide recently launched 'UNWIND WITH WYNDHAM' to encourage Americans to take their "heart"-earned vacation time off and to reclaim their unused vacation days with great mini-vacation packages, allowing us busy women to get in one last weekend romp with our families before life as usual returns this fall. As a part of the program, Wyndham is asking what happens to those days that are earned and not used - those "Lost Days", and is encouraging people to submit their info to LostDays@wyndhamworldwide.com.

It got me thinking about my own life and how hectic things have become. We have been really good about taking a few weekends away this summer and while it certainly does help me to disconnect and de-stress, I have not been good about carrying those feel-good vibes back into my every-day life. It's been a little reality check working on this campaign!

So, we are hitting the cabin this weekend. Heading up to the Adirondacks and leaving not only the Blackberry but the cell phones and televisions behind. We'll go swimming and hiking, explore the mountains and new stores in town, the babe will play on the front porch and we'll eat really yummy home-cooked meals.

Now, the hard part will be when we get back home. I'm putting it in writing - I'll cook at least three meals a week, we'll sit on the back porch and let the wee one play, unhurried. We'll take the dog for walks in the evening together as a family and we'll even try to get in some more time at the pool - even if it means that the baby goes to bed a little later a night or two a week.

There is nothing quite like a summer evening - and those will be gone before we know it. I, for one, plan to slow life down a bit so that I can enjoy the sunshine, fireflies and summer vacations while I still can. No more 'Lost Days' for this woman on her way.
