You know how it is when you're a working Mom -- you're always looking
for little tricks to make your life more manageable, more organized and
a little bit cleaner.
I've been working hard to get caught up and then ahead of my "to do" list at work and with our recent move into the new green building, I've also been busy making my new office a little more "me" (the happy, nice Alyson, that is -not the hormone-induced crabby woman that my poor husband has to deal with!).
So, I have some fun things to share with you!For Your Life:
First, for all of you fellow multi-taskers -- you already love the MomAgenda. Now, I've found three other websites that will help to keep you organized and will visually perk you up at the same time. Personally, I love the Vera Bradley "Duly Noted" Desk Organizer. This desktop item has a section for weekly "to dos" by day, a note pad and an address book all within its pretty little covers.
I'm a note taker. I doodle when I'm on the phone. I love to handwrite my packing list, grocery list, wish lists ... you get the picture. So, I often have multiple notepads around. Boatman Geller has the absolute cutest stationary around. I recently picked up three of these pads- a new line is coming out soon so grab them while you can! Boatman Geller also has great luggage tags for each line -- think preppy polka dots, classic madras, fun leopard and bold repp-tie stripes. Very cute and very unique.
I don't know about you, but I'm not a fan of the basic boring black attaché cases. When searching on the SeeJaneWork.com website for some brightly colored magazine boxes, I came across this great leather Expanding File Tote. I can already envision myself stepping off of the plane at my next business meeting, looking poised and ready to go! Personally, I'm digging the pink.
For Your Travel:
I like to stay "green" when I can in my daily life. And, you know that I love a good deal or savings. So, you can bet that there's no way that I'm paying extra for a blanket on an airplane. A great alternative is the Bamboo Blanket and Eyemask Set that's available at HSN.com. It's lightweight, warm and bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial. An eco-luxury that you can reuse? I'm in!
I have to admit, I need all of the above organizational stuff because unless I'm totally on top of everything ... I'm forgetting things left and right. When I leave a hotel room, I have to triple check the bathroom, the nightstands and the closet to make certain that I haven't left anything behind. Even then, I sometimes find that I'm making a "search and rescue" call to the front desk on the way to the airport! This leather travel jewelry case from RedEnvelope.com makes it easier to keep track of those small earrings, the sentimental rings and all-important watches.
This weekend I went to get a prenatal massage at Massage Envy. I had never been there before and was very pleasantly surprised. One of the things that really appealed to me was the ability to use my "membership" at any of their locations around the U.S. What a great benefit for us travelers! It will be nice to feel like I have a spa to call my own even when I'm on the road.
Have you found any items that make things just a little more colorful, a little neater in your life? Give me the scoop and help me on my quest to be just a little more organized.

I am always (!) trying to be just a little more organized since my job requires tracking multiple details for multiple clients. One of my clients (also a meeting planner) recommended this organizer called a planner pad (www.plannerpads.com).I used to use (or more accurately- lose) sticky notes and scratch paper of all shapes and colors. I have been using mine for about a month and I love it. Admittedly it's not colorful or particularly stylish, but it really is a different planning system that works well for tracking projects and ideas in one place.
When I want more colorful desk accessories I always check the "One Spot" at Target. They have the cutest stuff and for the most part-it costs a single dollar.
