My friends tease me but when I travel, I have a very specific routine that I go through each time that I enter my hotel room. I peek in the closet, peer behind the shower curtain, check under the bed and look behind the curtains. No, I'm not looking to make sure that the room is clean. That's not my first priority. I'm checking to make sure that I'm the only one in my room.
I know, it sounds crazy. However, this is my routine and it makes me feel safe. Of course, I also deadbolt the door too - but not until I'm sure that I won't have to make a speedy retreat.
