Disney Alternative?

We go to DisneyWorld just about every year. If you hit the deals just right, you can get a dirt cheap package, which includes on-site accommodations and all meals included. I'm VERY cheap, so having all meals included takes a lot of stress out of the trip for me...I don't feel compelled to hunt around for the cheapest dining establishments all the time.

Other than Disney, I haven't found any family-friendly and BUDGET-friendly all-inclusive destinations WITHIN THE US (since most of us don't have passports yet). I know cruises are great bargains right now, but they require a passport. Any thoughts?

  • I am not sure myself.....as my huby and I need a vacay so bad. We both work ( I have 2 Creative companies) and we have a 17 month old. There has to be a disney alternative....maybe just a beach resort in FL where you can go to a spa, kids can play by the water as family day and hubby golf?

  • Have you ever thought about traveling to the beautiful Smoky Mountains in Sevierville Tennessee? It’s no Disneyworld. However it is a new kind of economy travel because you are there for the nature…and that is FREE! Smoky Mountains have miles and miles of gorgeous hiking trails that range from short and easy to long and difficult. You can experience the majestic waterfalls, the views, the old Appalachian homes for FREE. Douglas Lake is an amazing body of water in Sevierville that has a FREE public access swimming section or rent a pontoon boat to go out to your own little private get-a-way. The lake is warm like bathwater during the summer and there is never a crowd. I have never met a kid that didn’t love hiking and playing in the lake. Food however is the same as any place…you have your Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Logan’s Steakhouse, fast-foods and a few local spots. There are also some attractions that do cost some money like miniature golf, mini-racecars, the Ripley’s Aquarium, etc. Wyndham has two amazing resorts…Wyndham Smoky Mountains and the new resort that just opened with the Wilderness Indoor Water-Park Resort called Wyndham Great Smoky Lodge. Check ‘em out!
