I'm going on my first family vacation with my soon-to-be wife, her son and her parents. During the flight, I will be seated next to my wife's father. As an avid sports fanatic and politics junkie, he loves to talk 'shop' whenever he finds the opportunity. Unfortunately, I have no interest in sports and believe to share different political views. Since I don't want to offend him with any opposing opinions, what are examples of other conversational pieces that I can bring up in order to show some interest?
