I think that out of my last ten or so trips, only one has been with another person, and I've gotten used to it to the point that I actually prefer solo travel(and I'm really not anti-social!). Anyway, my point is that if you've never traveled solo but it's something you'd like to do, just book a trip and do it. You'll meet people along the way, and have a great time catering to nothing but yourself and your own mix of interests -- no matter how conventionally unappealing they may be!
