Jane Announces The Wyndies

Jane is tired of reporting bad news. So, in honor of the end of Awards Season (you know, the Grammy Awards, the Golden Globes, the Oscars), Jane is going to don her loveliest, low-cut designer gown and stroll down the red carpet to announce the accolades received by Wyndham Worldwide during the past year.

Winners of what Jane will coin "The Wyndies" range across all price categories. At the top of the list is a hotel that won Jane's heart during her visit to Budapest, Hungary last year. Said hotel is the five-star Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal Budapest. The hotel, a member of the Wyndham Grand Collection, has been voted Best Luxury Hotel in Budapest in the 2009 TripAdvisor® Travelers' Choice™ awards poll. The Travelers' Choice awards, the only honors representing the unbiased opinions of millions of travelers, are among the most coveted in the global hotel industry. The spiffy Budapest Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal also garnered a Top 10 for Luxury-Europe and A Best Hotel in the Top 25 World Cities from TripAdvisor loyalists.

Jane Noses Into a Network

Mad as h*ll and can't take it, anymore? Then, ladies, network.

Unlike Howard Beale, the infamous lead character in the movie Network, who ranted and raved on television to blow off steam, women often use the telephone to get things off their collective chests. As a result, women can use their gift of gab as a networking tool in ways men cannot. To wit, can you imagine a group of two or three dozen men chit-chatting during a weekly group networking conference call? Probably not. Men don't generally do good phone. Women, on the other hand, revel in this form of communication.

Jane Goes to the Zoo

Jane was feeling a bit like a caged animal the other day (aren't we all feeling that way during these dog days of winter?). So, since it was one of the season's rare sunny days, she decided to get a good dose of Vitamin D and ramble over to the National Zoo in Washington, DC. Now, before the PETA people start attacking, please note that Jane does have qualms about seeing large animals cooped up in small cells. That said, she does figure that at a place like the National Zoo, animals are cared for quite nicely, even though they aren't in their native habitats.

Jane Stays Connected in the Air

Well, girlfriends, the days when you could escape the office for a few hours while on board an airplane are just about over. 2009 will be known as the year that Wi-Fi went sky-high in the air over America. That means that if your boss, or your underlings, want to reach you via e-mail while you are soaring thousands of miles above the earth's surface....well, they can. And you no longer have an excuse not to stay in touch 24/7.
