Jane is well aware that Earth Day has come and gone this year. But in Jane's HO, every day should be Earth Day. Plus, Jane does not like to orbit around a crowd. Hence, she writes her earthly prose post Earth Day.
Jane is happy to report that the company that signs her paycheck has just been recognized as a green pioneer by New-York based ConEdison Solutions. Wyndham Worldwide was honored for its commitment to environmental preservation and for using electricity provided by GREEN Power.
What is GREEN Power, you ask? It's a product provided by ConEd that's a mixture of 35% wind power and 65% run-of-the-river hydropower. According to its website, ConEdison Solutions is working with leading wind energy developer Community Energy, Inc. to offer this environmentally friendly energy alternative. Use of renewable energy sources can be used to produce electricity with fewer environmental impacts, thus reducing pollution.
But the kudos don't stop there. From more than 2,500 nominated projects, the new headquarters of Wyndham Worldwide has been selected for a Green Building of America Award. The project will be featured in the upcoming Real Estate & Construction Review Northeast Green Success Stories edition. The newly-opened building in Parsippany, New Jersey is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified site for its commercial interiors, thanks to its emphasis on limiting carbon and water emissions and the reduction of energy use.
All of these efforts are part of WyndhamGreen by Wyndham Worldwide, the company's recently launched sustainability program. Jane advises you to check out www.wyndhamworldwide.com/wyndham-green/ to learn more about what the company is doing.
