Jane is making the Grand Tour of Wyndham's luxe-iest (to coin a word) properties. As loyal readers will recall, last year she whetted her appetite for the good life at the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal in Budapest, Hungary. This year, Jane stopped by the Wyndham Chelsea Harbour, a newly-acquired all-suite property in a peaceful, yet convenient part of London. The property is currently undergoing a minor face lift (more like a nip/tuck, Jane supposes), but by mid-summer, the hotel should be wrinkle-free (with the exception of a health club renovation).

The hotel celebrates Girl Power, introduced to Britain by the Spice Girls in the 1990s, with the amenities it puts in the suites. If you are a woman, you get a selection of fashion magazines, a variety of potions and lotions, and some romance novels. While Jane isn't particularly keen on the latter, perhaps the hotel consulted with Ginger Spice or Baby Spice on the literary selection. Somehow, Jane believes Sporty Spice and Scary Spice would have offered up edgier options, while Posh Spice (aka Victoria Beckham) would have been happy with the fashion magazines and a stick of celery.

Speaking of celery, the Wyndham Chelsea Harbour is one green hotel. It started its lifecycle with an environmental mission statement focusing on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. Buying local whenever possible is another key initiative. Additionally, a WynGreen committee regularly meets to discuss green initiatives at the hotel.

What are some of said initiatives? Well, aside from a comprehensive recycling scheme, the hotel has its own branded in-house filtered water, served in glass bottles, which is provided in guest suites free of charge. All food waste is sent to a bio mass plant, so it doesn't end up in a landfill. The hotel also runs environmental projects in the community. The most recent was a beach clean-up for 'Thames 21' which removed debris from the stretch of the river near the hotel.

By the way, if you travel extensively in the UK, here's something you should know. After a mere three stays, Wyndham Rewards members are entitled to both free local and international calls. London calling, indeed.

And one more note: Corinthia Hotels has purchased the iconic and historic Metropole Hotel (circa 1880) and the adjacent 10 Whitehall Place, located in central London. The hotel and residence facility is slated to be completed by the end of next year, providing another luxury selection for Wyndham customers.
