Gutsy. Scary. Crazy.
Words used when I told people of my solo vacation to Cancun. A few understood and applauded me for packing just the basics and heading where the only decisions I had to make were mystery or romance, pool or beach, rocks or frozen. Others thought I must be having an affair or a breakdown. What else could it be? Leaving work, my husband and our two boys for five days.
Tired. Burned-out. Overworked.
Words I used to describe my state of mind. I was an exhausted mother, a burned-out wife, and an overextended manager. I needed a break. I didn't yet know how the experience would renew my energy and love for the many roles I play.
I, like so many women, needed to get healthy - mentally, physically and spiritually. I was so busy loving others that I forgot to love myself. I knew a vacation was necessary to maintain my sanity. The relaxing days in Cancun were some of the best in my life. I still feel the hot Mexican sun, hear the soothing lapping of the ocean waves, and smell the fresh salt air.
To stay strong and sane, we need to temporarily pause our world and take time for ourselves. One night in a local hotel, an extended weekend at a hidden B&B or a few days at a luxury resort. As long as the time away from your focuses on you and doing what you want.
Safe. Fulfilling. Fun.
