State/Province: MD
Country: United States

Profile:

Rhonda Ulmer is a mother of three, AmeriCorps alum, motivational speaker and parent involvement consultant for the PTA. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, volunteering, traveling and capturing special moments through photography. Rhonda has traveled to 25 states within the US and internationally to Canada, the Caribbean, Paris and Africa. She has also studied abroad to Italy where she learned about the Italian Renaissance. And to China where she gained hands on knowledge about business and entrepreneurship. Rhonda's bucket list includes exploring the remaining continent she has yet to visit. She is passionate about issues affecting children, youth and families which inspired her to create University for Parents, an nonprofit organization that provides parents with educational programs, resources and support to build healthy and strong families in the community. "Parenting is the the hardest job in the world because it is the most important job in the world," Rhonda quotes. She is blessed to have parents who exposed her and her siblings to traveling outside of their home state of Florida. She has continued the tradition with her very own family. Rhonda believes the lives of children are enriched when parents are actively involved in their education and allow them to experience history, arts and cultures through travel. Her children think it's cool to read about history and then actually see it on a family vacation!

Rhonda is truly honored to represent her fellow travelers on the Women on Their Way's Local Nation "Sounding Board"! She is excited to be a member and looks forward to sharing local knowledge on traveling tips for families, planning a fun girls day out and giving back in voluntourism.
