Here are some of our favorite adult Christmas party ideas:
Add a touch of nostalgia: Christmas can be a nostalgic time of year for many, so why not celebrate the past in the present by going old-school? For starters, you can use old photos of your family Christmases on the invite itself, whether that is sent via snail mail (for that back-in-the-day effect) or online. In the invite, you can ask your invitees to bring their old photos to be shared with other guests at the party. No trip down Nostalgia Lane is complete without the proper décor, so decorate your home with vintage ornaments and other Christmas decorations that can hopefully be found in your attic or basement. If you don't have anything vintage, visit local antique stores and thrift shops, or you can purchase cheap items through online auctions. Need more? Try vintage fake trees, plastic Santas and outdated Christmas lights.
Games, games, games: There are plenty of Christmas party games you can play to spice up any gathering. These can include original board games like Scrabble, Pictionary and Trivial Pursuit. For the more adventurous, why not try a Hershey's Kiss relay, where you divide your partygoers into teams and see which team can unwrap a Hershey's Kiss while its members don oversized mittens? Or what about a "Name That Tune"-style game where you again split into teams and then play classic Christmas songs, asking the teams to identify the original artist? To up the ante, prizes can be awarded to winning teams.
Party for a great cause: No matter the holiday you're celebrating, parties provide ample opportunity to do some good for others. One idea is to collect money at the door that you can donate to a specific charity. Around Christmastime, chances are there's a local charity that gives donated presents to kids, or food to feed those less fortunate in the area. Speaking of presents, another Christmas party idea is to have each of your guests bring a wrapped gift, which can later be donated to the charity of your choice.
